Underage Gambling Policy
1. 19+ only
Pickering Casino is closed to anyone under 19. Players under that age are barred from registering, depositing, betting or claiming promotions, our welcome offer and Pickering Rewards included. This applies throughout the lobby, from Popular slots and Jackpots to Live Casino tables.
Players are accepted only in regions whose local law permits it, and Canadian rules on age, identity checks and money laundering apply to us. Signing up with false details to get around our age rule breaches our Player Agreement, and the account will be closed.
Our marketing is aimed only at adults. We do not design promotions, imagery or messages to appeal to young people.
2. Parental controls and filtering tools
Parents and guardians play a key part in keeping gambling away from young people. Filtering software and device settings make it much harder for a child to reach a gambling site in the first place.
- Blocking software: Gamban / GamBlock stops gambling websites and apps launching across all of your devices.
- Device parental controls: computers, phones, tablets and gaming consoles come with settings that limit which sites and apps a child can open.
- Router and network filters: a large share of home routers can stop entire website categories from loading on any phone, tablet or computer using your connection.
- App store restrictions: age settings in app stores stop children downloading apps meant for adults.
Talking openly with young people also helps. The YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program offers education for young people, parents and schools on how gambling works and why it carries risk.
3. Shared devices and protecting minors
Devices such as laptops, tablets and phones are often shared within a household. If a younger relative can reach a device you use for Pickering Casino, some simple habits keep both them and your account safe:
- log out of your account at the end of every session;
- turn off your browser's password saving and login auto-fill;
- lock your device with a PIN, password or fingerprint;
- store bank cards out of children's reach, and keep e-wallet passwords hidden from them;
- never let a young person watch or join in while you play.
You carry responsibility for every action taken through your account, and letting a minor use your login breaches our Player Agreement. If you suspect a child has used your account, write to us by email straight away and we will lock it.
4. Identifying players below 19
Immediate action follows whenever we learn, or have sound grounds to suspect, that a player below 19 holds or uses an account:
- The account is locked for deposits, play and withdrawals.
- We ask for proof of age and identity.
- An account is closed when its holder is confirmed as being younger than 19, or when proof is not supplied.
- All bets and winnings on the account are void.
- If the payment method you first deposited with is able to receive refunds, your deposit money is returned there.
If an adult allowed a minor onto their account, we may close that adult's account too. We work to prevent the same individual from registering again and, where Canadian law requires, may share information with the appropriate authorities.
5. How we check age
Your age has to be confirmed before any deposit is possible. At sign-up we collect your complete legal name, the date you were born and where you live. Those details are checked against independent data sources, and your location is verified as well.
If our automated checks cannot establish how old you are, we will ask you to send documents. Usually this is an in-date photo ID from a government authority, like a driver's licence or passport. We may also ask for something that confirms your address, like a bank or utility statement issued in recent months. Until we confirm your age, the lobby stays closed to you and real-money deposits cannot be made.
Checks can also happen later. We may repeat an age check at withdrawal, when account details change, or when something about an account suggests a young person may be using it. More about our verification process is in our KYC & AML Policy, and how we handle your documents is set out in Your Privacy.
6. Contact
Anyone aware of, or suspecting, someone below 19 playing at Pickering Casino can email [email protected]. Giving us the account's username or registration email helps us find it. Every report is treated confidentially. Parents and guardians are also welcome to write to this address for advice on keeping our site off a child's device.
